Abstract

1276322 Paper-making apparatus BELOIT CORP 12 Aug 1969 [14 Oct 1968] 40232/69 Heading D2A [Also in Division F1] A headbox assembly for a paper-making machine (not shown) comprises a surge-damp ing tank of generally rectangular cross-section having a plurality of vertical inlet tubes 10 extending from a horizontal inlet header 26 through the base 13 of the tank to point below a horizontal baffle 16; the tank also having a plurality of vertical outlet tubes 18 extending from a level beneath the top of inlet tubes 10 through the tank top 14 into an outlet header 24 and the liquid level 17 being subject to air pressure by a compressor 20. The inlet header 2 is tapered in the direction of flow therethrough and the diameter of each outlet tube 18 is less than that of each inlet tube 10.
