Abstract

1275908 Hydraulic presses; moulding EX. PRESS PLASTICS Ltd 9 June 1969 628/70 Divided out of 1275907 Headings B5A and B5F A press e.g. for cold-moulding reinforced plastics articles comprises a pair of press members 20, 24 and first and second actuating means arranged to operate in series and sequentially for bringing the members 20, 24 together and separating them. The first actuating means may be hand operated or may comprise an hydraulic actuator, cables or, as shown, screw jacks 23. The second actuating means comprises hydraulic actuators 22a, 22b mounted on cross members 25 supporting the upper press member 24. The ends of the rams of the actuators 22a, 22b carry plugs 26 adapted to be engaged by pneumatically operated latches (Fig. 3, not shown). A microswitch (29) operated by one of the plugs 26 energizes a pneumatic actuator (30) which operates the latches, and starts a timer (T) to control the operation.
