Abstract
1275104 Eddy current flaw testing NIPPON KOKAN K K 19 May 1969 [17 May 1968; 7 March 1969] 25528/69 Heading G1N In a flaw detector having eddy current test coils in a bridge circuit 1, the bridge balance is stabilized by an arrangement in which two quadrature components of the bridge output signal are detected in synchronous detectors 10, 11 and used to control the gains of two amplifiers 12, 13 feeding, via a combining circuit 14, quadrature correction signals to the bridge. A circuit A, having a large time constant when its input is positive and increasing and a small time constant when its input is negative or decreasing, may be interposed between 11 and 13 and/or 10 and 12 to allow rapid balance adjustments of the bridge circuit as a specimen enters the apparatus and slow balance adjustments as the specimen leaves the apparatus. The bridge output is detected by a synchronous detector 6 and fed to a recorder (not shown). An oscilloscope 5 is provided.
