Abstract

1,274,668. Pesticides containing aminoguanidines. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 12 May, 1969 [10 June, 1968], No. 27503/68. Heading A5E. [Also in Division C2] Pesticidal compositions comprise as the active ingredient a compound of the general formula or an acid addition salt thereof, wherein R 1 and R 2 are H or hydrocarbyl groups, or together with the adjacent N atom form a 5- or 6- membered heterocyclic radical, optionally containing one or more additional heteroatoms; R 3 and R 4 are H; R 5 and R 6 are H or alkyl groups, together with a carrier comprising a surface active agent or a solid diluent. [see Division C2 for preparation]. The compositions are used to combat fungal or insecticidal infestations in plants by treating the soil, seeds or plants themselves. Conventional additives may be present. Amongst the Examples are prepared an emulsion concentrate from 1,1 - dimethyl - 3 - aminoguanidine hydriodide, ethylene dichloride, calcium dodecylbenzene sulphonate, "Lubrol" and "Aromasol" (Regd. Trade Marks), a seed dressing comprising the said active compound, mineral oil and china clay and a dusting powder comprising the said active compound and talc.
