A holding clip comprises a strip of resilient material, the two end portions 1 of the clip being of a configuration so as to form respeotive substantially U-shaped portions and each end portion of the clip being stiffened by a substantially U-shaped stiffening member 2 embedded in a respective said end portion. The thickness of the resilient material on the inward side of each stiffening member is greater, at least in the region of the base of the U-shape of each end portion, than the thickness of material on the outward side of the stiffening member. As shown in Fig. 2, the ends 1 are reinforced with respect to the centre body 3 of the clip by members 2 which are displaced or offset with respect to the portions 1, the ends of the part 3 being of larger cross-section than the middle part thereof to accommodate the ends of the members 2. Transverse bores 4 may receive lock or closure clasps or clips. In modifications, (a) the portion 3 may be non-rectilinear in form or divided into two parts 6, 7, Fig. 4, (b) the ends 1 are disposed in opposite directions to form a double-ended hook, (c) the free ends of the strip are in contact, or connected by a limb of the strip or the connection is made by the use of a material different from that of the clip proper to form a closed annular shape, or the ends are connected by a clasp or other releasable connecting means, (d) the limb portions forming the U-shaped parts of the clip are formed on the inner sides thereof with recesses, Fig. 9, (e) the clip has an additional region provided with a U-shaped stiffening member, (f) the resilient middle portion 5 of the part 3 is constructed so as to be separate from the end regions of that portion by providing open-ended slots 9, or slots 9 which are bridged by portions 10, Fig. 14.
