Abstract

1,273,192. Reloadable discharger. A. J. SCHERMULY. 2 Dec., 1970 [30 Sept., 1969], No. 47907/69. Headings F3A and F3X. A reloadable discharger comprises a firing mechanism 1, means for supporting a percussion igniter removably against the firing mechanism and a barrel 7 which is movable axially of the discharger relative to the firing mechanism and pivotably relative thereto to gain access to the percussion igniter supporting means. In the construction shown the firing mechanism 1 and barrel 7 are connected by a hinged member 6 which is rigidly attached to the firing mechanism 1 and projects into a sleeve 12 formed on the barrel 7. A spring 16 surrounding the hinged member 6 urges the barrel 7 towards the firing mechanism and in the firing condition of the discharger the hinge of the hinged member 6 is located within the sleeve. A longitudinally extending slot 8 is provided in the barrel 7 so that the discharger can be used for line throwing. The end of the sleeve remote from the firing mechanism supports a collapsible handle 18, 19.
