Abstract
127,290. Maison BrÚguet, and Routin, J. L. Nov. 30, 1915, [Convention date]. Addition to 127,280. Speed indicators operating by sighting aerial objects; velocity components, measuring.-Consists in providing, in the anti-aircraft gunnery appparatus described in the pa;rent Specification, a device for measuring, on a suitably amplified scale, the azimuthal and zenithal component of the angle through which the target moves during a time proportional to the time of flight of the projectile. Figs. 1. 2, and 5 show apparatus for measuring the azimuthal angle. The drum 1, Fig. 2, is rotated by the training- gear of the telescope and actuates a ratchet band 3 passing over a second drum 2. At the edge of the band are two cursors 7, 22, one of which, according to the direction of rotation of the drum 1, is moved by an electro-magnet 12 or 21 into engagement with the ratchet teeth on the edge of the band and is raised thereby. The circuit through the electromagnet is closed for a time proportional to the time of flight by a switch device shown in Fig. 5, comprising a uniformly rotating drum 1<a> having a brush 4<a> adjustable along the axis of the drum according to the range. The cursor 7 or 22 raises a third cursor 14 carrying pointers 23, 24, Fig. 1, adapted to move along scales 25, 26. A shutter 29 actuated by a sector 28 frictionally mounted on the drum 1 covers one scale or the other according to the direction of rotation of the drum.
