Abstract

1,272,848. Electrostatic spraying. ATLAS COPCO A.B. 2 Dec., 1969 [30 Dec., 1968; 6 Nov., 1969], No. 58900/69. Heading B2F. In an electrostatic powder spraying device, powder is taken from a storage container, conveyed to a profiled and or corrugated spraying edge charged to a high electrical potential where it is carried away by an air current. As shown in Fig. 1 powder is stored in container 1 and delivered by delivery device 3 to the conveying device 4 which is inclined to the vertical at angle 11 and vibrated in the direction of the arrow 9 by vibrator 5. An electrostatic potential is applied between edge 6 and workpiece 10, and air issues from ducts 7. Different shapes may be used for device 4 (Figs. 2, 3, and 4, not shown). In a further embodiment a conveying platform is vibrated. In still further embodiments the conveying device is in the form of a conveyor belt. The electric charging and air current for spraying may either be produced in the spraying device by means of a generator and air blower or they may be derived from external sources.
