A mirror construction comprises a resilient metal sheet 10 having a mirror finish on one surface 11 or both sides, and two rigidly mounted, spaced apart support members 13, 14, the sheet following the curvature of respective parallel convex arcuate edges 13', 14' of the members, the members being held apart by spacers 15, 15', 16, 16' and the sheet 10 being tensioned by springs 21, 21', 22, 22', anchored on rods 23, 24, so as to bear on the edges 13', 14' which are accurately milled. The sheet is stiffened by clamping members 25, 26 each comprising two elongate blocks, one on each side of the sheet, screwed together.
