A de-icing fluid comprises one or more of ethylene glycol, propylene glycol and glycerol; a polyethylene glycol ether of a diisoalkylphenol; and a copolymer of acrylic or methacrylic acid with an alkyl acrylate or methacrylate as thickener. The compositions may contain sodium or potassium hydroxide to dissolve the polymer, and disodium hydrogen phosphate or guanidine chromate as corrosion inhibitor.
