Abstract

[Also in Division C3] Cores of therapeutic materials are coated with compositions comprising (a) an aqueous dispersion of a physiologically compatible polymer containing at least 50 weight per cent of acrylic or methacrylic acid or an ester thereof and (b) a sweeting agent, the copolymer constituting 5 to 50 weight per cent of the total solids of the dispersion. The compositions may also contain wetting agents, e.g. polyoxyethylene sorbitan monostearate, and dyes and pigments. The preferred sweeting agent is sugar. Examples describe coating of tablet cores with compositions comprising sugar, water and (1) talc, blue dye, polyethylene glycol and ethylacrylate/methyl methacrylic/methacrylic acid copolymer, (2) silica, corn starch, red dye, titanium dioxide, talc and same copolymer, (3) silica, green dye, titanium dioxide talc and same copolymer, (4) silica, iron oxide, talc and methyl acrylate/butyl acrylate copolymer, (5) polyethylene glycol, titanium dioxide, blue dye and the copolymer of (1), and (6) blue dye and the copolymer of (1).
