Abstract

[Also in Division F2] An arrangement for locking an articulated axle 17 relative to a chassis 18, which arrangement is suitable for use in a turretted public works machine, comprises two jacks 20, 21, a distributer valve 1 having ports 3, 4 and 9, a manually operable control valve 25, and a pressurizing and draining system 29 to 33. The distributer valve includes a slide member 2 which is biased by means of a spring 10 to the position shown and is movable in the opposite direction by pressure within port 9, flow between port 9 and passages 12, 13 and 14 of the slide member taking place through a calibrated restriction 15. With the arrangement in the state shown, pressurized fluid in conduit 29 acts upon the slide to move the latter until the slide passages 12-14 interconnect ports 3 and 4 and hence the jacks 20 and 21, such interconnection permitting relative movement between members 17 and 18. Upon moving control valve 25 to the position wherein duct 34 is connected to exhaust line 33, the slide member is moved by the spring 10 to the position shown and hence the connection between ports 3 and 4 is broken so isolating the two jacks from one another and inhibiting relative articulation between members 17 and 18. In a modification (Fig. 3, not shown) the distributer valve includes two separate valve members each of which controls a port leading to one of the jacks.
