Abstract

127,171. Marsden, E. Sept. 11, 1918. Insect traps; adhesive traps.-A device for catching flies comprises a box A divided into one rear and two forward compartments. The rear compartment D contains a removable cage H open to the light and provided with a trap opening G through which the flies enter from one of the front compartments B containing a flat-sided roller E coated with treacle or some similar sticky bait, and slowly rotated by clock-work contained in the other front compartment. The flies settling on the roller are carried round into the dark compartment B, where they either fall off or are forced off by a light scraping-flap I. They then enter the cage H through the trap G. A shield J prevents the flies from escaping by the side of the roller E.
