Abstract

1,271,508. Window cleaning devices. R. F. SMITH. June 20, 1969 [Aug. 1, 1968], No. 36640/68. Heading A4F. A device for cleaning both sides of a window simultaneously comprises a pair of tongs the ends of which are respectively provided with pad structures which are resiliently biased towards each other, and are movably mounted on the tongs for presenting alternative surfaces thereof to the surfaces to be cleaned. The bias may be provided by the resilience of the tongs or by compression of springs each mounted between a tong end and the pad structure carried thereby. Each pad structure 11 as illustrated in Fig. 2, comprises a wooden block 12, rotatably mounted on an end 10A of a tong leg 10, and provided on one side with a foam plastics pad 13 and on the other side with a felt pad 14. The pad structures are dipped in cleaning liquid and the pads 13 and 14 are used for washing and polishing the window, respectively.
