[Also in Division F2] In a vehicle having a hand-brake lever 1 for controlling a transmission brake and a gear-shift lever 3 which is movable between two positions to control a two-speed axle or overdrive gearbox located between the transmission brake and the driven wheels, there is provided an interlock device which, when the hand-brake lever 1 is in the operative position with the gear-shift lever 3 in one of its two positions, prevents movement of the gear-shift lever 3 out of that position until the hand-brake lever 1 is released. When the driver wants to move the gear-shift lever 3 he must first release the hand-brake, and if the vehicle is standing on a slope he will then normally apply the foot-brake which will prevent inadvertent movement of the vehicle as the gear-shift lever 3 passes through neutral. A cam-block 5 on a pull-rod 4 which connects the hand-brake lever 1 to the transmission brake engages a follower lever 6 when the brake is operative to rotate a shaft 6 against spring- loading and position a blocker arm 1 in the path of an abutment 2 on the gear-shift lever 3.
