Abstract
1,271,031. Winding a wire on to a stranded wire or cable. SCHWERMASCHINENBAU KOMBINAT ERNST THALMANN VEB. 20 July, 1970, No. 35076/70. Heading B8G. An apparatus for winding a wire strand on to a stranded wire or cable comprises a housing 1, a drive transmission 2, 3, 4, 5 in the housing 1, the drive 5 being a hollow shaft through which the stranded wire or cable passes, the shaft 5 supporting a winding head, Fig. 3 (not shown), for winding wire around the stranded wire or cable, the shaft 5 rotating in a non-rotatable tube or cylinder 13 mounted in the housing 1 in a resilient manner, a closed chamber 23 in which the cylinder 13 and an intermediate shaft 4 are housed, one or more discs 24 on the shaft 4 that dip into a lubricant to produce a mist lubricant in the chamber 23, and one or more apertures 12 in the tube or cylinder 13 through which said mist passes to lubricate the mounting of the shaft 5. The tube or cylinder 13 is radially and axially located by resilient rings (14, 18), Fig. 2 (not shown). The shaft 5 is mounted in the tube or cylinder 13 by bearings and is provided with a labyrinth oil seal on the outside of each bearing.
