Abstract

1,270,962. Automatic copier. DYNAGRAPHIC SYSTEMS Inc. July 14, 1969 [July 15, 1968], No. 35353/69. Headings G2A and G2H. In an automatic electro-photographic copier in which a stack of photo-conductive sheets is heated to control humidity by heating element 24 and sheets from said stack are fed successively through charging zone 40, exposure zone 45, liquid development zone 80 and drying zone 105 comprising a heating element (116) and which copier comprises a variable time exposure knob (15) and variable number of copies knob (20), a safety switch (215) opens when an inspection panel (14) is opened; heaters 24 and 116 normally operate continuously; an on-off switch (25) actuates a signal to indicate readiness to copy, lack of copy paper and lack of developer and also actuates an endless chain 126 which continuously drives sheet conveyer rolls 39, 44, 78, 91 and 115, developer stirrer 184, and cyclic timing gear train comprising gears 121, 141 and 151; and the gear train cyclically operates sheet transfer rolls 34 and 36, an illumination switch (161), sheet stop fingers (47-49) for locating a sheet during exposure step, sheet advance fingers 71-73 and a pump (100) for replenishment of developer bath with toner/liquid concentrate. Exposure time is controlled by a cam (176) integral with the hub of a segmented gear 102. The gear train is disengaged and locked at the end of the copying cycle(s).
