1,270,914. Dyeing in organic solvents. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. 29 Oct., 1970 [3 Nov., 1969], No. 51512/70. Heading D1B. [Also in Division C4] Synthetic fibre materials are dyed by an impregnation process in an organic solvent with a dye of formula I in which R is hydroxyl or an amino group, R 1 a hydrogen atom or chlorine or bromine or a phenyloxy or phenylthio group or a group of formula II, III or IV or -S-B 1 X is a hydrogen atom or a hydroxy group or one X is a hydroxyl group and the other X is nitro or an amino group, R 2 is hydrogen or a C 1 to C 3 alkyl or C 1 to C 3 alkoxy group, m and n are each independantly 1 or 2, B and B 1 are C 1 to C 18 alkyl, cycloalkyl, or aralkyl group, with the proviso that the sum of the carbon atoms in the substituent or substituents B and B 1 is at least 4 and at most 18, the material subsequently being subjected to a heat treatment. The solvents used are preferably water immiscible and of boiling point 40-150‹C, e.g. tetrachloroethylene, trichloroethylene, 1,1,1-trichloroethane and 1,1,1- trichloropropane, or mixtures thereof. Polyolefines, polyesters, polycarbonates, polyamides, polyurethanes and cellulose triacetate may be dyed.
