Abstract

1,270,396. Lamps. MELUDE S.A. 28 March, 1969 [29 March, 1968; 8 July, 1968; 17 Sept., 1968; 22 Nov., 1968], No. 16391/69. Heading F4R. [Also in Division A4] A lamp comprises a rigid elongate shell 22 of symmetrical channel-shaped section having a bottom web 22a and a pair of side walls 22b which define a light-transmitting face 20, the channel being of generally U-shaped form and having a substantially rectilinear middle portion 27 and two substantially rectilinear end portions 24 1 , 24 2 set at an angle to the middle portion. The channel, which contains one or more electric lamp bulbs or tubes, may be made of metal, such as iron or aluminium, or a relatively opaque translucent synthetic plastics material, and the face 20 may be covered by a relatively transparent translucent material or a transparent material. The lamp may be pivotally mounted on a base 28 so that as it rotates suitably placed control contacts produce various lighting effects. Alternatively, it may be secured directly to a wall or ceiling or made of sufficient strength to serve as a table or bench, cushions or other accessories being retained thereon by magnetic means. A radio or loudspeaker may be incorporated in the lamp.
