Abstract

1,270,391. Pressure gauges. HOLLEDGE (INSTRUMENTS) Ltd. April 22, 1969 [Jan.22, 1968], No.3332/68. Heading G1L. In a pressure transmitting device air under pressure is supplied from a pressure regulator 31 through a conector 30 to a chamber 17 on one side of a diaphragm 8 located within a tank and the arrangement is such that the pressure supplied to the chamber 5 deforms the diaphragm 8 to lift a spigot 10 away from face 21, containing a bleed nozzle 19 which leads to atmosphere through a passage 20 and the pressure required to effect such operation is recorded on a gauge 32 thus permitting the contents of the tank to be measured. A spider member 12, fixed to the spigot 10 by a screw 14 and made of a low coefficient of friction material such as P.T.F.E nylon or phosphor bronze, is used to suppress pneumatic and hydraulic harmonics. The diaphragm 8 has a similar configuration to a face 9 to prevent overloading and may be made of stainless steel welded by argon arc to recessed edges of the cap 2.
