Abstract

1,270,337. Evacuable containers. AIRFLEX CONTAINERS Ltd. 11 June, 1970 [9 July, 1969], No. 34657/69. Headings B8C and B8D. A container comprises a rigid base 10, a flexible cover 14 carried by a frame 13 which can be secured to the base 10 in a fluid tight manner, and a valued outlet 17 through which the container can be evacuated. The cover 14 may comprise two shins so interconnected that the cover is self erecting on inflation thereof. The frame 13 can be separated from, hinged to, or connected by threaded corner posts (27, Fig. 4) to, the base 10, and the frame and base may be secured together with a lock and key. 'The container may also include a tank (36, Fig. 6) which is evacuated to a pressure lower than that of the container and communicates with the container via a valve which opens when the pressure in the container rises due to a leak. Various seals between the frame 13 and the base 10 are described, (Figs. 5A-12).
