1,269,207. Grafting vinyl chloride on to halogenated butyl rubber. BAKELITE XYLONITE Ltd. 15 July, 1969 [18 July, 1968], No. 34239/68. Heading C3G. A graft polymer of vinyl chloride on a halogenated butyl rubber contains from 0À1 to 20% by weight of the halogenated rubber and is prepared by a suspension polymerization process. In the preferred process, the halogenated rubber is dissolved in vinyl chloride which is then suspended in an aqueous medium in which grafting is carried out. In examples, chlorinated butyl rubber is used and the resulting graft polymers are blended with a thiotin stabilizer and stearic acid. A vinyl chloride polymer may be blended with the graft polymer.
