Abstract

1,268,685. Cathode-ray tube deflection circuits. INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP. 25 June, 1969 [4 July, 1968], No. 32097/69. Addition to 1,164,574. Heading H3T. [Also in Division H2] In a cathode-ray tube deflection circuit using a transistor 2 in series with a thyristor 3, a control circuit (such as 16, 17) is provided to ensure that devices 2 and 3 remain conductive in the event of excess current due to CRT flash-over, the current being limited by a resistance capacitance network 8 ... 12. In the line deflection circuit described, devices 2 and 3 are periodically turned on and off by line pulses 1 fed to the base of transistor 2. In the event of CRT flash-over, the increased current in resistor 14 will turn on transistors 16 and 17 so as to prevent devices 2 and 3 being turned off by pulses 1. In Fig. 2 (not shown) the protective circuit comprises a single transistor controlled by the current in a resistor connected between devices 2 and 3.
