Abstract

1,268,677. Container agitation apparatus; sample tube carrier. COULTER ELECTRONICS Inc. 22 July, 1969 [23 July, 1968], No. 36712/69. Headings B1C and B1X. Apparatus for agitating the contents of containers 36, Fig. 2, during storage comprises an open ended tray 30 mounted on a rocking device 20. Tray walls 28, 30, flanges 32, 34 and upstanding guide rails 64, 66 co-operate to form C-shaped container rolling tracks 60, 62. End stops are provided by resilient tongues 90, 92. The tray is attached to the rocking device by slidably engaging it in a U-shaped elongate bracket 150, Fig. 4, the bottom 156, of which is attached to one horizontal arm 141, Fig. 2, of a hinge 140, the other arm being connected to housing 110. An L-shaped clip 180, Fig. 4, connects the bracket bottom 156 by means of a spring 182 passing through hole 190 in wall 112 to an "inner wall" 130 on which is mounted an electrically driven motor 202 which, when energised, causes a cam 210 having free rolling rollers 220 to engage the bracket bottom 156 intermittently. In a modification the tray may be arcuate and have only one upstanding rail. Other forms of stop means are illustrated.
