Abstract
1,268,647. Lock mechanisms. EATON YALE & TOWNE Inc. 16 Jan., 1970 [4 Feb., 1969], No. 5883/69. Heading E2A. A key operable lock mechanism has a shutter 14 formed from plastics material said shutter having an integral resilient flexible tailpiece 14a which by reaction on a fixed part of the lock mechanism serves to load the shutter towards an operative position. In the construction shown there are two tailpieces and the shutter is disposed in a recess 13 in the end of a plug 10 of the lock mechanism which is disposed for the rotation in a body part (not shown). The shutter is held in the recess by a metal cap 16 placed upon the end of the plug and bent over a flange of the plug to secure it in position. The plug has a semiconical depression (not shown) opposite to the recess 13 and the shutter has a part conical recess (not shown) the depression and recess guiding the key into the key hole and causing the shutter to be moved against the resilience of the tail pieces.
