Abstract
1,268,646. Coated paper. RICOH K.K. 23 Jan., 1969 [24 Jan., 1968], No. 3945/69. Heading B2E. [Also in Divisions D2 and H1] A support paper for use in an electrophotographic material (see Division H1) comprises two or three layers. One of these layers, the central layer when there are three, is formed from lightly beaten pulp and has a low density, the other one is or two are formed from a more strongly beaten pulp and has or have ahigher density. The layers are united to form a single support, and one surface layer (the low-density one when there are only two layers) is rendered electro-conductive by coating it with polyvinylbenzyl-trimethyl ammonium chloride, sodium polyacrylate, glycol, polyethylene glycol, calcium chloride, sodium chloride or lithium chloride. In the Examples, the compound web is pressed and dried and coated on its high-density side with a composition comprising zinc oxide, styrenated alkyd resin, acrylic ester resin, toluene and a dye (Rose Bengal, Bromophenol blue, or fluorescein).
