Abstract

1,268,475. Archimedean screw pumps. SIMON-HARTLEY Ltd. Jan. 11, 1971 [Jan.24, 1970], No.3526/70. Heading F1C. An Archimedean screw pump is provided with at least one bearing comprising a ring 13 secured around the screw and anchored to the periphery of the screw blade or blades 11 and supported by bearing pads 15 set in the inclined trough 12 in which the pump operates. At least two angularly spaced bearing pads 15 are provided for each ring 13, each bearing pad being mounted in a box 16 set into the screeding comprising the inner surface of the trough 12. Preferably the bearing pads are spring-urged upwardly. Short auxiliary blades 14 are provided between the blades 11 to assist in supporting the ring 13. The bearing pads may be replaced by rollers.
