Abstract
1,267,723. Fluid-pressure servomotor systems. FOXBORO CO. Oct.6, 1969 [Nov.1, 1968], No.48885/69. Heading G3P. An automatic bumpless transfer system for process control has a secondary controller 23 maintaining the output signal from a process controller 11 equal to a signal from a manual controller 25, the secondary controller comparing the manual signal and the output signal from the process controller and providing an output 31 to rebalance the latter. The process controller receives a measurement signal 12 and a set point pressure signal 14 and is provided with integrating and output bellows 18, 19, the bellows 19 during automatic operation providing an output pressure which is applied through a line 20 to the process to be controlled and through a line 44 to a bellows 41 in a manual controller 25 so that a pointer 42 follows and indicates the output pressure. In manual operation, a knob 37 and a sector gear 36 adjust the output pressure from a nozzle 39 and the bellows 41 to supply a control pressure for the process through the line 20 and a set point pressure to a bellows 26 in the secondary controller 23 which is opposed by a measurement bellows 34 connected with the bellows 19. Integrating bellows 33 in the secondary controller are inter-connected with the bellows 18 of the process controller and with a bellows 30 providing a proportional action so that the manually regulated pressure appears in the bellows 19. A switch 27 connects a supply 28 to the bellows 30 to activate the controller 23 during manual operation and operates further switches 35A, 35B and 35C on changeover from manual to automatic operation. A reset capacity 45 in the process controller is disconnected by the switch 35B during manual operation.
