Abstract

1,267,577. Rocket nozzles. WERKZEUGMASCHINENFABRIK OERLIKONBUHRLE A. G. Oct. 24, 1969 [Oct. 29, 1968], No. 52428/69. Heading F1J. The invention relates to a nozzle for a spinstabilized rocket, the nozzle comprising a nozzle body and a sleeve secured to the nozzle body, the sleeve having internal surfaces or fins which are arranged to be removed by exhaust gases after a predetermined time. The nozzle shown comprises a forward portion 3 and a rearward portion 2, the latter being formed with fins 4 which are inclined to the axial direction so that gases discharging through the nozzle impart spin to the rocket. The nozzle portion 2 is formed of material whereby the fins are eroded away after a predetermined time so that the spin is discontinued. The portion 2 may be formed of syntehtic phenolic resin and polyester or of synthetic phenolic resin and an epoxy resin, and may incorporate a filler in powder form.
