Abstract
1,173,098. Supersonic missile. SOC. FINANCIERE D'EXPANSION COMMERCIAL ET INDUSTRIELLE S. A. Dec. 14, 1967 [Dec. 15, 1966], No. 56887/ 67. Heading F1J. The invention relates to a supersonic missile in which fuel is discharged externally of the missile body and burns downstream of a shock wave so producing thrust on the missile. The missile is pointed at its forward and rearward ends, there being a frusto-conical surface 3 of increasing diameter in the downstream direction, disposed in the region of largest diameter. Adjacent the upstream end of the frusto-conical surface are disposed fuel ejection openings 2. The shock wave created at the forward end of the missile is indicated at 1 and that created at the surface 3 is indicated at 4. The rearward portion of the missile may be of curved convergent form as indicated in full lines or of conical form as indicated by broken lines.
