Abstract
1,267,467. Preventing coking in pyrolysis plants. DEUTSCHE TEXACO A.G. 10 Nov., 1970 [28 Nov., 1969], No. 53450/70. Heading C5E. Coke obstructions are prevented in pyrolysis plants by causing the coke to deposit on a sieve in an easily accessible position in the flow path of the cracked gas stream between the pyrolysis furnace and the cooler. The sieve may comprise one or more wire mesh cages, preferably two disposed one within the other, the inner having a larger mesh size than the outer. In the example the cracked gases contain about 33 mole per cent ethylene obtained by pyrolysis of ethane. When the resistance of the sieve to the gas flow increases due to coke deposition the sieve is replaced.
