Abstract
1,266,561. Amine-alkylene oxide condensates. JEFFERSON CHEMICAL CO. Inc. 27 March, 1969 [4 April, 1968], No. 16221/69. Heading C2C. [Also in Division C3] Alkylene oxide condensates of polyamines having the formulµ wherein n is an integer of from 1 to 50, R is hydrogen or a C 1-20 straight or branched chain alkyl group, Z is a C 2-20 straight or branched chain alkanol group, r is 2, 3 or 4, M is a C 1-8 alkylene radical and the sum of x + y + z is from 3 to 50, are prepared by reacting corresponding compounds in which Z represents hydrogen with sufficient appropriate alkylene oxide to introduce the required C 2-20 alkanol groups denoted by Z. In examples (1) a polyoxypropylenediamine having a molecular weight of 400 is propoxylated to give a compound of formula (2) a polyoxypropylenetriamine having a molecular weight of 260 is propoxylated to give a compound of the formula (3) a polyoxypropylenediamine having a molecular weight of 2000 is propoxylated with 5 mols of propylene oxide; (4) 1À5 mols of tripropyleneglycoldiamine are propoxylated with 6À2 mols of propylene oxide; (5) a polypropyleneglycoldiamine having a molecular weight of 400 is ethoxylated with 4 mols of ethylene oxide. Uses.-For reaction with isocyanates to give flexible, rigid, semi-flexible and elastomeric urethanes. In further Examples (6) and (7) rigid foams are prepared from products of Examples (2) and (4) and a polyaryl polyisocyanate in the presence of a silicone oil and trichlorofluoromethane; and (8) a semi-flexible foam is prepared from the product of Example (3) and a polyaryl polyisocyanate in the presence of water and N,N<SP>1</SP>-dimethylpiperazine.
