Abstract
1,266,514. Fountain brushes. M. ANDREWS. May 21, 1969 [May 22, 1968], No.25963/69. Heading A4K. [Also in Division B6] A fountain brush comprises a ferrule 36 which is received in a liquid guide 22 and which is freely moveable between one position in which the tapered surface of the ferrule engages the inner tapered surface of the guide 22 and a second position in which the end of the ferrule abuts against a member 40 having an aperture 44 for flow of liquid from a compressible container 14 in a barrel 12 to the bristles, the cross-section of the ferrule being of a different form from the cross-section of the inner surface 30 of the guide member so that a passage (38) for liquid is defined there between. The cross-section of the ferrule may be rectangular and the cross-section of the inner surface 30 may be circular or visaversa, Fig.3 (not shown). The container 14 is connected to the liquid guide 22 by a tubular member 48 which is initially used to pierce the endwall of the container. Alternatively the end-wall of the container, Figs. 4-6 (not shown) may have a pair of cross slits (70) which are opened on compression of the container. Between the container 14 and the guide 22 is a liquid reservoir 54 which contains a filter 56.
