Abstract
1,266,256. Flash-bulbs. PATENTTREUHAND-GES FUR ELEKTRISCHE GLUHLAMPEN m.b.H. March 17, 1970 [March 17, 1969], No.12837/70. Heading G2L. A flash-bulb comprises an envelope 1 containing crumpled shreds 4 of combustible metal foil, these shreds having a cross-section of from 2 X 10<SP>-4</SP> to 10 x 10<SP>-4</SP> mm<SP>2</SP>, having from 8 to 50 bends per 100 mm of strand length and forming a ball with a cross-section of from 40 to 8 mm<SP>2</SP> per 100 mm of shred length. The shreds are of zirconium and the bends in these shreds are smaller than 0À3 mm, the angles included by individual bends being less than 60 degrees. The envelope has a varnish coating 2 as a protection against shattering and the bulb is provided with conventional ignition means 5. Apparatus is described for bending the shreds and filling the bulbs Fig.4 (not shown).
