Abstract
1,265,319. Moving filter band construction. D. A. G. MARSHALL. 13 May, 1969 [15 May, 1968], No. 23057/68. Headings B1D and BIT. [Also in Divisions B4 and B5] A porous elongated web, for use as a non- endless travelling band filter for liquids or gases, comprises two layers 10, 12 of foamed polyurethane or fibrous mats between which are bonded longitudinal strips 14, 16, 18, and possibly transverse strips 24, of springy steel or phosphor bronze. In assembly, the strips may be coated with polyethylene powder, layers 10, 12 pressed on to the strips and the powder melted by passing electricity through the strips to bond the layers and strips together. Alternatively, molten polyethylene is applied to the strips or to the surfaces of layers 10, 12 opposite the strips, and the whole assembly is pressed together. A plastics edge beading (26) may be similarly secured to the outer strips 14, 18 (Fig. 3, not shown), or these strips may extend from between layers 10, 12 and have teeth or cog-holes for driving the web.
