Abstract

1,265,256. Photographic printing screens. FUJI PHOTO FILM CO. Ltd. July 31, 1970 [Aug.1, 1969], No.37230/70. Headings G2C and G2M. Photo-sensitive material for preparing printing screens comprises (1) a porous support impregnated and coated with a photo-polymerizable composition comprising (a) a photo-polymerizable monomer and (b) a photo-polymerization initiator, sandwiched between (2) and (3) a pair of cover films. The composition has greater adhesion to (1) than (2) and (3) when unpolymerized but greater adhesion to (2) and (3) than (1) when polymerized. The composition preferably contains 5 mÁ-50Á particles to render it thixotropic and may also contain a photo-crosslinkable polymer and/or a colourant. In the examples, paper, rice paper and nylon'screen supports are coated with liquids containing (a) diethylene glycol dimethacrylate, pentaerythritol triacrylate or polyethylene glycol diacrylate, (b) benzoin methyl ether, or anthraquinone, and additionally ZnO, carbon black, crystal violet, silica and/or a blue pigment, and sandwiched between regenerated cellulose or polyvinyl chloride films.
