Abstract
1,264,364. Control of D.C. motors; converting. TECHNION RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION Ltd. 21 Jan., 1970 [21 Jan., 1969], No. 3318/69. Headings H2F and H2J. [Also in Division G3] The voltage and current through a load 3 are regulated by a circuit 1 interposed between the load and a D.C. source 2 and comprising switches 4 ... 7 which are simultaneously opened and closed in pairs 4, 7 and 5, 6 so that an alternating voltage is established across a capacitor 8, the frequency of which may be varied to vary the reactance of the capacitor and hence the supply to the load. Members 4-7 may be mechanical switches or power transistors or thyristors. An embodiment using the latter is described, Fig. 2 (not shown), the triggering frequency being varied by :a conventional firing circuit. The D.C. supply 2 may be derived from a three-phase A.C. supply through a transformer and rectifier, Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown). The load 3 may be an electric motor, furnace or lighting installation, an operating parameter of which may be controlled by varying the frequency of switching. Stabilization of the parameter may be obtained by the provision of a feedback circuit controlling the frequency.
