126,418. Fairweather, W., (Singer Manufacturing Co.). April 4, 1918. Button - attaching machines. - In button-attaching sewing-machines of the kind described in Specification 114,389, the button - holding clamp consists of two pivoted arms 24 articulated at 27, drawn together by a spring 28 and provided with depending parts 25 adapted to close on the shank of the button as shown. The parts 25 are dished to conform to the shape of the underside of the button, and are preferably notched when they close on the button. They are cut away slightly below the normal operative position of the button shank. The clamping- arms are supported on a plate 17 laterally adjustable on a block 15 secured to the presser-bar 10. The arms are separated by a wedge 31 on the lower end of a pin 32 which slides in the block 15 and is actuated to release the button by contact with an abutment 34 secured to a fixed part of the machine when the presser-bar is raised.
