Abstract

1,263,643. Bending and breaking metals; producing metal articles. METALLSCHLAUCHFABRIK JOSEPH ULBRICH & CO. 9 July, 1970, No. 33480/70. Headings B3A and B3E. In a machine producing flexible protective tubing from unprofiled strip, the strip enters, from a guide, a pair of driven profiling rollers 2, 3 which partially profile the strip; the strip passes between one of the rollers 3 and a driven plate 4 which finish-profile the strip; the strip is fed via a deflector plate 7 and a driven roller 9, on to a mandrel 8, and is helically wound to form the tubing. The profiled strip travels 270 degrees around the plate 4 from roller 3 to plate 7, passing two rollers retaining its profile at the side and top. The driven roller 9 is angled with respect to the mandrel axis to produce the helical winding. Prior to profiling the raw strip is fed from a horizontal supply device and over a limit switch to control operation of the machine.
