Abstract

1,263,374. Poultry plucking machines. BAROMFIIPARI ORSZAGOS VALLALAT. 6 June, 1969 [15 June, 1968], No. 28843/69. Heading A2U. In a poultry plucking machine of the kind comprising a number of rotatable plucking units arranged on opposite sides of the path of the poultry and each comprising a plurality of resilient fingers 5 projecting out from the plane of one or more discs, a pair of concentric discs is employed for each unit, the outer disc 4 being of annular form and surrounding the inner disc 3, and the two discs being driven at different angular speeds or/and in opposite directions of rotation. The discs are arranged to lie approximately in the same plane but means is provided for relative adjustment of the discs in the axial direction and also in the vertical direction to suit the form of the poultry being plucked. Position recorders 13, 14 record the positions of relative adjustment being employed. The poultry are suspended from a travelling conveyer 12 traversing an overhead rail 11. The plucking fingers are preferably covered with a herring bone pattern of ribs (6, Fig. 4, not shown).
