Abstract

1,262,483. Dental-cleansing apparatus. T. C. McGUIRK. 5 May, 1969 [30 April, 1968; 4 July, 1968], Nos. 20430/68 and 31980/68. Heading A5R. [Also in Division A4] A dental cleansing device comprises a main tube 1 connected at one end 6 to a water supply source, and including an intermediate junction piece 2, a secondary tube 4 connected to a branch of said junction piece at one end and at the other carrying a nozzle 5 and a hollow toothbrush 11 beyond the nozzle. An antiseptic liquid reservoir 8 has an outlet to the secondary tube. In one embodiment Figs. 2-5 (not shown) the junction piece is in the form of a lid (15) for a container (14) for the antiseptic fluid, which is injected into the secondary tube by a pump (19) incorporated into the lid. In a further embodiment, Fig. 6, (not shown) a turbine (27) is provided at the end of the secondary tube and operated by the water flow therethrough to drive a rotary toothbrush (25).
