Abstract
1,262,379. Rotary pumps and motors. DANFOSS A.S. May 14, 1969 [May 15, 1968] No.24612/69. Heading F1F. An internally meshing gear motor (or pump) of the n and n + 1 tooth type in which an externallytoothed gear 11, Figs. 1 and 2, is keyed to a main shaft 8 and an internally-toothed ring 13 is permitted to orbit without rotation, includes a commutator valve comprising a ported valve plate 12 keyed to the shaft 8 and a fixed ported housing part 3 disposed between housing parts 2 and 4 in which the plate 12 and the gears 11, 13 are respectively located. Inlet and outlet ports 20, 21 or vice versa in a cover 1 connected respectively to a source of pressure liquid and sump communicate respectively with outer and inner annular grooves 22, 23 which co-operate with rings of ports 28, 29 in the valve plate 12. The ports 28, 29, six of each, one for each tooth on the gear 11, open into annular grooves 26, 27 having oppositely directed radial grooves 30, 31 which co-operate with a ring of seven axialpassages 32 in the housing part 3. The openings 33a of the passages 32 adjacent the motor (or pump) displacement chambers 14 are arranged on a circle about the axis of the shaft 8 and are positioned and dimensioned such that each opening in turn is completely covered by the internallytoothed ring when the axis thereof in positioned on that side of the shaft axis diametrically opposite the opening. The diameter of the circle is equal to the greatest diameter of the gear 11 plus the diameter of the orbital path M of the ring 12 and the diameter of the openings 33a equals the diameter of this orbital path. Thus complete sealing is effected between the increasing volume chambers 14 and the decreasing volume chambers 14. Pins 15 located between the teeth on the ring 12 carry sealing members 19 and rollers 16 which orbit in boxes in a disc 5 and end cover 7 respectively.
