Abstract
1,262,312. Ingot moulds. GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE STERKRADE A.G. 3 March, 1969 [5 March, 1968], No. 11129/69. Heading B3F. A recess 16, Figs. 4, 5, for receiving a lifting- hook or tongs is formed in each of a pair of ridges 15 on an ingot mould. Because of this, the mould itself can be cast in a mould 1, Fig. 1, having a base-plate 6, a main core 10 and recessforming cores 9 and be readily stripped from the mould 1. In another form of ingot mould, Fig. 8, the whole of the recess 16 lies outside the mould wall so that a face 20 is exposed and the end 17 of the ridge 15 forms a lifting lug. Such a mould may have a bottle neck as shown although only two opposite sides might have converging inner surfaces 20. The mould cavity may be of dodecagonal cross-section. The ridges 15 may be at the middle of two opposite sides of a polygonal outer surface. If the ingot mould is of nodular C.I. and of polygonal cross-section, the middles of the sides may be thicker for better heat transfer. The ingot moulds may be of cast steel or haematitic iron.
