Abstract
1,262,304. Photographic printing processes. AGFA-GEVAERT A. G. Jan.17, 1969 [Jan.20, 1968], No.2752/69. Heading G2C. A photographic printing process to produce copies of standardized densities having substantially uniform minimum and maximum densities from originals which have different ranges of density from the light to the shadow portions of the image but substantially equal density in the shadow portion uses a copying material comprising at least two silver halide emulsion layers of different spectral sensitivities and gammas, the sensitivities of the emulsions and/or the relative intensities of the copying lights L 1 , L 2 of different colour are adjusted so that for substantially equal exposure times with L 1 , L 2 the resulting characteristic curves intersect at a particular density value which corresponds to the desired density value which is to be obtained in the shadow portions of the copy. In a specific example, material of the type disclosed in Specification 494, 088, is exposed to light through a blue filter and through a yellow filter, the correct balance being obtained by exposure of strips of the material to one colour and processing the strips under identical conditions; further strips being exposed until the desired density value is obtained in each shadow portion.
