Abstract

1,261,784. Silicone-treatment of textiles. SHINETSU CHEMICAL CO. 28 May, 1969 [4 June, 1968], No. 26932/69. Heading D1P. Textiles are treated to improve their flexibility and springiness with a silicone rubber emulsion comprising particles not larger than 1 micron and containing an organopolysiloxane having the unit formula: where R is a monovalent C 1-18 hydrocarbon radical and n has a mean value of from 1.9 to 2.1. The polysiloxane is prepared by emulsion-polymerisation of an organosilane or organosiloxane, and its relative viscosity in a toluene solution at 25‹C is at least 1.8. The textiles are dipped in the emulsion (which may additionally contain a resin-finishing agent), mangled until they contain 30-200% by weight of the emulsion with respect to the weight of the textile, dried at 80‹-100‹C and then heated at 120‹-180‹C.
