Abstract
126,144. Coventry Acme Motor Co., Hemingway, G. H., and Robb, W. J. May 4, 1918. Tubular constructiona.-To facilitate removal of the cylinders without dismantling the engine of a motor-cycle, the engine n is mounted on a subframe g bolted at its front end to the main frame member a and pivotally connected at its rear end to lugs e on the main frame. The engine can thus be swung downwards on the pivot when the securing bolt has been removed. To avoid disturbance of the transmission mechanism, the countershaft sleeve carrying the driving sprocket wheels m is co-axial with the pivot. When a shaft transmission is employed, a universal joint may be arranged co-axially with the pivot. To allow the rear wheel to be spring-mounted, the bushes l, Fig. 3, encircling the pivotal bolt h, are fitted with auxiliary bushes s on which the rear wheel stays i can oscillate. The engine-carrying member may be mounted on a vertical pivot,
