Abstract

1,261,118. Advancing mine roof supports. KLOCKNER-WERK A.G. 30 May, 1969 [1 June, 1968], No. 27402/69. Heading E1P. In an advancing mine roof support comprising a frame A-C and a frame B interconnected for relative advance and having alignment cylinders therebetween arranged in pairs 11, 14, and 12, 15 with each member of the pair (11) operable in a direction contrary to that of the other (14) the annular piston face in one of each pair of cylinders has the same effective cross-sectional area as the full piston face of the other cylinder and the chamber on the full piston face side of said cylinder is connected to the chamber on the annular piston face side in the other for maintaining parallelism. The above support is characterized in that each alignment cylinder comprises two parallel single cylinders which are located sideby-side and each contain a piston to which pressure is simultaneously applied urging them in opposite directions, the piston rod of each piston being linked to one of the neighbouring frames and being non-rotatably guided in its cylinder.
