Abstract
1,260,555. Moulding nozzles. STOECKER & KUNZ G.m.b.H. 14 May, 1969 [15 May, 1968], No. 24616/69. Heading B5A. [Also in Division F4] A one-piece refractory pouring nozzle consisting of a portion 1 of wear resistant material and a portion 2 of thermally insulating material is formed by simultaneously pressure moulding the two materials in a common mould and thereafter firing the so formed composite moulding. In the case of large differences in the expansion and contraction rates between the wear-resistant and insulating materials, a length of tubing 5, Fig. 4, of combustible material may be moulded into the nozzle between the portions 1 and 2, the tubing leaving a cavity between the portions after having been burnt away. In alternative constructions (Figs. 5-8, not shown), the upper part (6) of the nozzle consists of wear-resistant material and the lower part (7) of insulating material (see Figs. 5 and 6), or vice versa (see Figs. 7 and 8). The wear-resistant material may be magnesite and the insulating material may have a basis of chrome magnesite, chromite or forsterite. Alternatively the wear resistant material may be highly aluminous, e.g. bauxite, corundum and the insulating material may be based on chamotte (fire clay).
