Abstract

[Also in Division G3] In a hydraulic pump the inclination of the swashplate 9 pivoted to a support 8 and fast with the driving-shaft 7 is made variable by the action of a piston 12 which is supplied by outlet pressure fluid via a regulating valve 27 which has one face subjected to the delivery pressure and the other face to the combined action of a spring 24 bearing on the swash-plate 9 and an intermediate hydraulic pressure which is lower than the delivery pressure. The pressure reaches the interior of the piston 12 via a calibrated orifice 18 thus providing a back pressure on the valve member 27 in addition to the spring 24. A safety valve 36 is provided to limit the maximum value of the delivery pressure and comprises a valve member 37 which is subjected on one face to the outlet pressure and on the other to a spring 38. An annular chamber (40), Fig. 2 (not shown) surrounding the valve member 37 communicates via a non-return valve (42) with one of the bores 4 of the pump which thus provides a pulsatory delivery pressure to the annular chamber (40). When the delivery pressure exceeds a predetermined value the valve member 37 is lifted, subjecting the piston 12 to the pulsatory pressure delivered from the pump bore 4 so that the piston 12 advances in steps until the angle of the swash-plate is zero.
