Abstract

1,259,250. Rectifying. BROWN, BOVERI & CO. Ltd. 27 July, 1970 [29 July, 1969], No. 36269/70. Addition to 1,163,507. Heading H2F. A rectifying system comprises two banks 4, 5 of controlled rectifiers connected in series on their D.C. side, each bank being shunted by a by-pass switch 8, 9 and having means responsive to the initial closing movement..of either by-pass switch 8 or 9 for triggering the controlled rectifiers of the bank so as to form a conductive path across the D.C. side of that bank. Contacts 11 and 12 are arranged -to close the further main by-pass switches 8, 9 so as to trigger a series pair of controlled rectifiers (preferably thyristors) into conduction before the by-pass switch closes.
